As part of its commitment to clean up Ontario&#8217;s air, the McGuinty government has posted two new regulations that require industry to reduce their emissions of harmful air pollutants. Both of these regulations achieve commitments made in the government&#8217;s <em>Five-Point Action Plan for Cleaner Air<\/em>, announced on June 21, 2004.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-laws.gov.on.ca\/DBLaws\/Regs\/English\/050194_e.htm\">Regulation 194\/05 Industry Emissions &#8211; Nitrogen Oxides and Sulphur Dioxide<\/a><\/em> addresses points one and two of the five-point action plan:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Applying tough nitrogen oxides (NO<sub>x<\/sub>) and sulphur dioxide (SO<sub>2<\/sub>) limits &#8212; two of the most significant smog-causing pollutants &#8212; to more industrial sectors than ever before.<\/li>\n<li>Making the NO<sub>x<\/sub> and SO<sub>2<\/sub> limits even stricter in future years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ene.gov.on.ca\/envision\/air\/regulations\/localquality.htm\">Regulation 419\/05 Air Pollution &#8211; Local Air Quality<\/a> with better provincial standards for harmful air pollutants addresses points three to five of the plan:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Setting new air standards, in some cases for the first time, for many harmful pollutants, including carcinogens and toxins that could pose a threat to human health.<\/li>\n<li>Achieving a better picture of industrial emissions through updated technology.<\/li>\n<li>Introducing a faster, risk-based approach to implementing new air standards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"menu_order":28,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"faq_category":[62],"class_list":["post-1208","avada_faq","type-avada_faq","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","faq_category-air-pollution"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq\/1208","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/avada_faq"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1208"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq\/1208\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1208"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"faq_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ffaq_category&post=1208"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
