The Air Quality Ontario initiative is one component of a comprehensive strategy to protect the environment and safeguard public health. Other components of the strategy include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>Drive Clean<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 a program that reduces nitrogen oxides (NO<sub>X<\/sub>) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through emissions testing of motor vehicles and enforcement through the Smog Patrol;<\/li>\n<li>Ontario Regulation 194\/05 \u2013 Industry Emissions: Nitrogen Oxides (NO<sub>X<\/sub>) and Sulphur Dioxides (SO<sub>2<\/sub>) \u2013 this regulation establishes industry sector emission caps starting in 2006 and defines how these caps will be reduced in future years (2007, 2010 and 2015);<\/li>\n<li>Ontario Regulation 419\/05: Air Pollution \u2013 Local Air Quality \u2013 sets air quality standards for toxic substances to protect local communities;<\/li>\n<li>Ontario Regulation 397\/01: Emissions Trading \u2013 caps nitrogen oxides (NO<sub>X<\/sub>) and sulphur dioxide (SO<sub>2<\/sub>) emissions from the electricity sector;<\/li>\n<li>Ontario Regulation 127\/01: Airborne Contaminant Discharge \u2013 Monitoring and Reporting \u2013 focuses public attention on environmental practices, thus compelling high emitters to clean up their act, and\u00a0<i>OnAir:<\/i>\u00a0Ontario\u2019s online registry for reporting to the public;<\/li>\n<li>Developing cleaner sources of energy to replace coal-fired generation by early 2009, a mandate to create renewable energy, encouraging energy efficiency and conservation programs, including use of co-generation;<\/li>\n<li>Stage 1 Vapour Recovery (Ontario Regulation 455\/94) requires gasoline facility operators to install, maintain and operate gasoline vapour recovery systems, and Gasoline Volatility (Ontario Regulation 271\/91 as amended by Ontario Regulation 45\/97) which limits gasoline vapour pressure during the summer;<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Training for Dry Cleaners (Ontario Regulation 323\/94);<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) Guideline A-5 for New and Modified Combustion Turbines; and,<\/li>\n<li>CCME Guideline A-9 for New Commercial\/Industrial Boilers and Heaters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"menu_order":19,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"faq_category":[],"class_list":["post-1258","avada_faq","type-avada_faq","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq\/1258","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/avada_faq"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1258"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq\/1258\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3909,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/avada_faq\/1258\/revisions\/3909"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1258"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"faq_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/atipure.com\/store\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ffaq_category&post=1258"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
